Glucosamine Relief
Introduction Osteoarthritis is the most common form of arthritis, it breaks down the cartilage in the joints. The cartilage is the slippery tissue that covers the ends of bones in a joint. The Harold Hunter Foundation, in association with Zoo York, CCS, DVS Shoes, Camp Woodward and Red Bull, is proud to announce the 4th Annual Harold Hunter Day is set for Sunday, October 10th, in New York City.

Pa'din Musa won the silver medal in the Street Skateboard Qualifying (Best Asian Skater Division) category at the recent Asian X-Games held in Shanghai, China.

Really, he is. For a man who has single-handedly placed Malaysia on the map in the world of extreme sports, the local skateboarding legend is a simple man who still remembers his humble upbringing in a small town in Butterworth, Penang.
He speaks politely and it is apparent that there is not a single diva-bone in that man’s body. The 34-year-old world-famous skateboarder was very gracious during our interview recently at the Vans boutique in Sunway Pyramid, Bandar Sunway, Selangor, and even seemed a little embarrassed over the fuss everyone has made over him.
“I’ve been skateboarding for over 20 years now,” said the petite Pa’din
What he lacks in stature Pa’din definitely makes up for with his deft skills in skateboarding. The numerous medals and trophies he has won in local and international competitions throughout his career are testament to that.
The two-time Asian X-Games gold medalist (in 2000 and 2004) recently added another win to his already long list of victories – he won the silver medal in the Street Skateboard Qualifying (Best Asian Skater Division) category at the recent Asian X-Games held in Shanghai, China.
It was his 11th year of participation in the Asian X-Games.
“The competition was tough and I’m glad that I still managed to get a top-three placing in that category,” said Pa’din in a soft voice. In the overall Street Skateboard Finals (Open Category) Pa’din placed eighth behind skaters from United States, Germany, Brazil and Japan.
Born Mohamad Fadzil Musa, Pa’din as he is more affectionately known, is definitely a positive influence to many youngsters who are keen on extreme sports activities – and even to those who aren’t.
His rags-to-riches tale definitely serves as an inspiration to youths, proving to them that one doesn’t have to be born wealthy to be successful in life. Besides being a professional skater for over two decades, Pa’din is also an established skatepark designer and brand ambassador.
Back in the late 1980s, Pa’din was just another boy from a low-income family in Butterworth when his brother introduced him to the world of extreme sports.
“It was he who first started skateboarding. Only after I saw him doing it did I find the interest to try it myself,” said the third of seven siblings.
He tried his hand at skateboarding at age 13, and has been hooked on it since.
Although his parents initially were wary of their kid’s interest in the extreme sport, they eventually understood that it was what he liked and wanted to pursue professionally. (As a token of appreciation, Pa’din bought plane tickets for his family to visit Sarawak after he got his first big cheque in 2001.)

Pa'din has been skateboarding for more than two decades now, winning many local and international competitions.

When he first started out, Pa’din befriended teenage students of a nearby international school (most of whom were American) who were into skateboarding, inline skating and BMX riding. It was those older schoolboys who really helped cement Pa’din’s interest in the extreme sport.
“They would show us some tricks and even let us watch video tapes of skateboarding that they brought from their hometowns. Then we would get together to re-create whichever tricks that we could with limited skills and equipment,” said Pa’din who is the only person in his immediate family to skate professionally.
The schoolboys also helped Pa’din and his friends get skateboarding gear selling them their used stuff like shoes, skateboards and more.
“It was difficult getting the equipment back then. They didn’t have any extreme sports stores in Penang and we had to go to Kuala Lumpur if we needed anything. But the American boys were nice enough to sell us their stuff for cheap and sometimes even gave things away for free,” said Pa’din who became good buddies with the foreigners.
The skater, who wasn’t fluent in English when he was younger, now speaks the language almost perfectly, and credits skateboarding as the reason behind the improvement.
“I wasn’t very well versed in English as a kid, but the more videos I watched, the more people I met and the more tournaments I participated in, my grasp of the language just got better over the years,” he said.
Pa’din started to compete in local skateboarding competitions at age 18 and his long list of accomplishments is definitely something that could make other skaters go green with envy. And although he concentrated on creating a name for himself in the skating community, he didn’t neglect his studies altogether. The skater went on to receive a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from the Port Dickson Polytechnic in Negri Sembilan.
These days, when he is not competing, Pa’din and his friends go “skate travelling” where they visit countries just to try out the skateparks there and meet new skaters. He likes to watch up-and-coming skaters do their tricks as he believes that this new generation of extreme sports athletes have something fresh to offer to the community.
“Honestly, it’s hard to come up with a brand new trick in skateboarding as I believe that there aren’t any left. What the rest of us skateboarders do is create variations of such tricks to keep the sport current and also challenge our competitors,” said Pa’din.
He skates for at least three hours a day, even when he is not competing, just to brush up on his skills and work on variations that he has yet to master. It was with lot of hardwork he said that he managed to “land” a trick he had struggled with for years.
“I’ve tried to do a ‘backside nose blunt side’ trick for almost four years and only managed to land it perfectly last year. Once.”
Besides working on landing difficult tricks, Pa’din is also working on making skateboarding more accessible for youths across Malay-sia. He currently runs the skating school at in Putrajaya and hopes that the Government would take notice in providing adequate assistance to youngsters who are interested in pursuing careers in extreme sports.
“There is no point in having so many skateparks in the country if the youths cannot learn anything new or work on their skills there. We should provide them with lessons to sharpen their skillset and open new skateboarding opportunities for them,” said Pa’din.
He also advised youngsters who want to take up skating, or other extreme sport, professionally to understand that it requires a lot of time and dedication. It is different from doing it as just a hobby.
“Professional skateboarding requires a lot of hardwork and you must be willing to do it for a long time before tasting success. This is not a way to gain instant fame and money but if that’s what they’re after, baik join Akademi Fantasia.”

The skating school is located at the Putrajaya Challenge Park, Jalan P5, Presint 5, Wilayah Persekutuan Putrajaya (017-661 7105).

As far as skateboarding, day five of X Games 2010 wrapped up with the Women’s Street Final and the Park competition final for pros and legends. The fervor’s usually died down by the last day and it’s more like smooth sailing from then on. Whether you’ve been working the last five days, actually skating or just watching, Sunday at the X Games feels like a Sunday anywhere else - kinda sleepy. Still, there’s a little to witness, here, so enjoy. Thanks again to Olympus, everyone who made the whole event possible and Mike Sinclair for some pics. I just spiked my Olympus Stylus Tough 8010 into the ground in excitement and it’s still working. Stoked.

There wasn’t a ton from the girl’s street finals, but what did go down was pretty rad. Leticia Bufoni was ripping. In the end, she secured second with Alexis Sablone taking first and Marisa Dal Santo in third, after having won the last two years. Well deserved for Alexis. Remember?

Bastian Salabanzi and Converse’s Steve Luther watch the ladies. The ladies did great, but the vibe was mellow.

Then, some of the dudes from the Real Street contest started rolling around, showing that the skills are not only for video. Nick Trapasso with a back lip.

You know Windsor James was all up in there cheering everyone on, especially his teammate.

Legends finals went down. Two of these dudes finished in the top three. Chrisitan Hosoi got first and Steve Caballero got third. Lance got fifth and Chris Miller (not pictured) got second.

Then the park finals went down after that.

Rune was rolling, but he couldn’t get into the top three. Lipslide the pool corner coping.

Curren Caples continued his destruction. Frontside flip to fourth place. There was some uncertainty there, as Kevin Kowalski seemed to tie with Curren, but Kowalski finally took third.

Tonight Pierre-Luc Gagnon (PLG) made history by winning gold in Skateboard Vert and taking home Gold in Best Trick. Happening at the Nokia Center in downtown Los Angeles, tonight marks the first time a skateboarder has won X Vert three times in a row.
When the pressure was on, PLG delivered late in the final. Needing big scores to take down Shaun White, he dropped in and chalked up a 47, and immediately followed that on his next run with a 46. Despite back-to-back 540’s in his first run, what put PLG over the top was his frontside heelflip 540 body varial, a trick never done before at X Games. His second run was epic as well, and included a 720 kickflip body varial. Those two scores—nearly perfect—were unstoppable. PLG also did a nollie varial Indy 540, which secured Gold in the Best Trick.

“I was feeling good in practice, and I can’t believe I pulled it off,” said PLG in his post-win interview. “I’m super psyched. It hasn’t really settled in!”

After nearly four full days of watching past X Games champions repeat, three-peat, and even four-peat, a new hero for a new generation finally emerged in the Street Park Final Sunday night at L.A. Live. Fifteen-year-old Brazilian Pedro Barros, who was first introduced to the viewing public at Thursday night's Big Air Final (in which he was the youngest competitor by five years), has taken down X Games veteran stalwart Andy MacDonald in a concrete duel.
Barros was the number one qualifier to the Final out of Friday's Elimination round, on the strength of runs that combined the sort vert skills that have marked past Park events and the sort of fast, flowing lines that this year's smaller, more open course demanded. He brought similar flair on Sunday, throwing several 540s (and nearly making three in one run at one point), combined with huge transfers across nearly every gap on offer -- including a huge ollie tail grab over the big rail and a low-to-high frontside smith grind on the biggest wall in the course.
Barros spent much of the jam session tied with MacDonald at 81, but the 36 year old failed to really alter his runs at all, even after Barros leapt into the lead on the final run of the session. MacDonald's run -- as has normally been the case over the course of his 14-year X Games career -- was technically difficult and not a whole lot different than years past. He threw rodeo flips, kickflip indies over some of the bigger gaps and found a few transfers that his competitors didn't. When he crashed on his fifth and final (and exactly the same) run, Barros threw his fists into the air in celebration.
""We're young, so we have more energy and get more hyped up," Barros said afterward, referring to the youth explosion that marked the final results. Eighteen-year-old Kevin Kowalski won a tiebreaker with 14-year-old Curren Caples to take the bronze, relegating 37-year-old Bucky Lasek to fifth. Two-time and defending champion Rune Glifberg and perennial fourth-place finisher Omar Hassan failed to advance to the final session.
When asked if he ever considered walking away from X Games with a gold medal, Barros said no way. "I was just thinking about walking away happy and that's what I walked away with."

Ryan Sheckler has won his third X Games gold, edging Nyjah Huston by less than one point as the clock ticked down on Saturday's Super Final. Sheckler took the lead in his first of five runs, in what was essentially a warmup -- albeit a warmup that included a kickflip backside boardslide on the rail, backside kickflip down the gap, a huge switch kickflip that he barely landed and a backside tailslide down the ledge that earned him a 90.33.
With skaters given 45 seconds or two crashes per run, Sheckler appeared to have a solid hold on things until the third run, when Huston popped off a run that included a 360 flip up the gap, a switch heel to manual down the ledge, and a backside 270 boardslide. The run earned him a 91.33.
While both Chaz Ortiz and Ryan Decenzo threw a variety of bangers in their runs, both were plagued by untimely crashes that kept them from fully challenging Sheckler or Huston.
At his next opportunity, Sheckler seized the moment, stringing together a kickflip to boardslide, a big frontside air in the tea cup, a backside flip up the gap, a cab 360 lipslide down the rail into a frontside blunt in the little tea cup transition. The run garnered a 92.00 -- cementing the podium despite Huston and Ortiz each having one last shot at Sheckler's lead.
Sheckler acknowledged that he wanted redemption after last year's X Games, when he sustained an ankle injury that derailed most of the last year. "I chose X Games because I got hurt here last year and wanted to prove to myself I could come back and get a gold," he said, taking time to also acknowledge the rabid fan base that was evident in the crowd.
"They're yelling the whole time," he continued. "You don't want to let them down, so you skate your heart out and do the best you can do."

Despite Hollywood-level hype surrounding Shaun White's return to skateboard competition Friday night at the Nokia Theater, it was two-time and defending Skate Vert champion Pierre-Luc Gagnon who did what skateboard insiders figured he would all along: win the first ever Vert three-peat in X Games history.
Gagnon, a relentlessly technical skater known for composing entire runs of tricks that many of his competitors can't even do, was initially put in a corner by White, who threw the first stellar run of the evening on his fourth attempt of the final jam session. In a run peppered with back-to-back 540 variations, he ended with a frontside heelflip 540 body varial -- a trick never seen at X Games. The run scored a 44 to put White in the lead.

It was in the fifth round of runs that Gagnon, who had already garnered a 47 in his fourth run, put the hammer down. The run earned him a 46, for a total of 93 points -- eight ahead of White.
Needing a near-perfect 49 to retake the lead, and with the clock on the jam session ticking down, White dropped in one last time, but failed to complete his run.
"I felt really good in practice, nailing it every try," Gagnon said afterward, of the trick that earned him the win. "I knew it didn't matter if I didn't make the first few, but I'm super psyched I pulled it off."
The medal is Gagnon's sixth gold and fifteenth overall.

Olympus gave us their new water- and shockproof Stylus Tough 8010 cameras to get the insider perspective from people with the most access to the 16th Summer X Games. So, our friend and Tum Yeto everyman team manager, Mike Sinclair, was there yesterday, snapping shots of some of skating’s best in practice. If last year’s X Games 15 was in a white dress hitting a piñata for it’s Quinceañera, this year it’s got its driver’s license and it’s cruisin’ - it’s all up at the Staple Center in downtown LA, the street and park courses are looking pretty bonkers and the best have come out to roll–Josh Brooks

If I were a commentator at the X Games, I’d be like “David Gravette defies GRAVITY on this ollie one-foot!” then I’d drop the mic, triumphantly celebrating my on-point announcing, and walk out of the booth.

Competition format

We will be following the format for eS game of skate.

No old school tricks allowed
Once the board leaves it wheels, it must land on all four wheels, with both feet on the board. No rail landings, manual landings, caspers, 50-50s(the old freestyle trick) or cross-legged landings. No hands on board. No hands on the ground, before or after trick.
After each individual battle, the loser of the battle will be be grouped in a loser pool and the winner will be grouped in a 'winner' pool. In the final battle for champion, the winner of the 'loser' pool will duel with the winner of the 'winner' pool for SKATE champion.

I first met Mikey Burton when he came to live in Sacramento for the summer. We loved giving him a hard time. One time we told everyone in town that he was the skater “Death Wish” and it bummed him out so bad. Another time I was mixing bondo with gloves on and greeted him with a handful of a bondo handshake. No matter how bummed Mikey got though, he was always killing it. I got to witness one of the gnarliest tricks I’ve ever seen done, which we used in Hallelujah (ollie over barrier to flat). He went to a spot that tons have been to and shut it down (landing it twice). That was the one day I couldn’t give Mikey a hard time.—Chris Ray

The skateboard decks will be displayed and sold at Syrah Wine Parlor during the event on August 13. A percentage of each sale will be donated to Now That You Know, which helps enable ambitious girls without resources in Meru, Kenya to stay in school (nowthatyouknow.org).

Check in with the Flip team as they make their way through Europe on a mission of carnage, brutality and good ol’ fashion skateboarding. The KR3W team held it down and put on a gnarly demo for the Chicago crowd on the second to last stop of the 2010 Zumiez Couch Tour. Lizard King, Erik Ellington, Greg Myers, Furby, Jim Greco and Boo Johnson killed it, Muska held it down on the mic and announced, and the top 5 skaters of the Chicago Best Foot Forward ripped following the demo. Miles Canevello came out on top in Chicago skating everything on the course with speed and great style.

Last night was the launch party for the 15 Yearés Of Photoés book by Atiba Jefferson at Space 15TWENTY in Hollywood. Being a photographer myself, I really look up to Atiba, because his photographs are not only amazing, but a majority of them are iconic photographs that have been embedded in my brain. The book is filled with all of them and then some, many which are a part of TransWorld SKATEboarding history. Everybody who wasn’t out of town made it out in support of 15 Yearés Of Photoés, and had a great time. The book is out in bookstores and skateshops now, you know you’ve been waiting 15 Yearés to get it!

The Almost Team rolled into Denver with almost the whole team, except for Daewon Song. The legendary Rodney Mullen showed up as the anchor, and Chris Haslam lead the way in the demo. Lewis Marnell destroyed the double-set with super tech tricks, landing consistently and properly on bolts every time. Ricky Webb skated great, flipping into the hubba with crooks and back tail. Cooper Wilt, Justin Schulte, and Ray Maldonaldo put together some great lines all over the course too.

The Zumiez Best Foot Forward Am Contest Series Results:

Denver has one of the best skate scenes in the country; great spots and great skaters, so we knew this stop would be amazing. Every time the Zumiez Best Foot Forward tour stops in Denver, that winner always makes the top 3, and moves on to the HH Finals at X Games, so we’ll see how they do this year. A lot of familiar names showed up again, and youngsters Phil Hansen and Wyatt Milhollan just keep getting better and better with a bigger bag of tricks and big-man style. Phil got 2nd and barely beat out Matt Pennington who got 3rd and the New Era Originator of the Day by laying down some serious hammers, like a 360 hardflip, which has never been done on the tour. Two-time HH Finals winner, Julian Christianson continued his unbeaten streak in Denver with his switch, nollie, 270, flip and shuv variations all over the course. Julian is tough to beat, so we’ll see how he does on July 1st in Minneapolis.

Skate shops are the life blood of skateboarding, please support your skater owned shops with your hard earned cash, they have your back way harder than mall chain stores and will put the money you give them back into making local videos or hooking up local kids instead of into the down payment on a red convertible sports car. Without further ado, kicking of with Chas’ man Kevin Rodriguez:
How gnarly was this part when it came out?! How gnarly would this part still be if it came out in ten year’s time?! This has to be one of the all time greatest video parts on the planet, from Coliseum skate shop, the always-face-melting PJ Ladd:
RDS skate supply has grown into something way bigger than just a shop, but I’m putting this one in there because I’m backing Ryan Smith hard and I remember this period when he was coming up and every month he had something sick come out in a magazine somewhere. The description says it all: “Hard hitting Canadians.”
FTC has dropped more memorable skate videos than any other shop; this is from their first video Finally filmed and edited by Aaron Meza, featuring some serious finesse from Mike Carroll.

Finishing off this week with two links from the same video, Dan Wolfe had such a massive influence on skateboarding with his sick filming and editing style and pinnacle East Coast videos, it seems only proper that he closes us out with a double whammy from back in the day. Quiksilver Canada Tour Blog Day 2

Day two in Montreal had something planned but it was cancelled, so that means we just get to skate and film. Two problems to start off the day—1, Reese is still MIA with a gnarly flu. And 2, Danny’s board is on the Quiksilver bus and the bus is nowhere to be found, or lost, or something. We’re still not sure. We waited in front of the hotel for a couple hours and decided to cab it to the first spot. Here’s a tip for traveling in Montreal: If the hotel calls you a cab, make sure you know exactly how many cabs they called and use them all. The hotel asked for too many cabs twice, and the one cab driver that comes up empty gets mad, really mad.
The first spot is at the top of Montreal. It’s all marble ground, ledges, and stairs and you can see the entire city. It’s also kind of crowded with tourists and the sun bounces of the marble ground into your face. It’s a cool spot, but some of the guys aren’t feelin’ it. Riley gets a couple shots on the ledge and we were over it. Jordan Hoffart and some of the guys wanted to stay at the spot, while a few of us decided to break out to skate around the city.
Back at the hotel, still no bus, and Danny still doesn’t have a board. So, Dario from Canada hooks us up with a zip zinger and we’re off. Skating around Montreal is fun, but it’s also like a real life game of Frogger. The drivers here are sketchy. They drive fast and have no patience for anyone, especially seven guys skating through traffic. Tory Goodall is a new Quiksilver Canada team rider and our guide through the city. He rolled his ankle the day before we showed up so we didn’t get to skate with him. But he’s a good guy and down to spend the day on a bike so we can find some stuff to skate. Leeper and Riley got some shots at the last spot and we were done. Kind of a frustrating day, but there’s good news back at the hotel. The bus finally showed up, Danny has a board, the Laker game is on at 9:00, and Reese Forbes is back on his feet. Tomorrow we have a shop signing and demo at big indoor park. Should be fun.

On Thursday, July 1, 2010 the éS Game of SKATE tour kicks-off in sunny Venice Beach, CA. Skaters will complete thousands of crazy trick combos at 19 regional US locations and numerous stops around the globe. 2010 King of New York Skateboard Dates and Events Announced

Mark your calendars, the King of New York will be happening Saturday, August 7 at Tompkins Square Park. King of New York Champions will be named for Skateboard Street and Highest Ollie. Returning this year will be the unique King of New York “building block” format conceived in 2009 where the competition course obstacles and ramps change configuration frequently throughout the day’s events, mimicking a street session where multiple spots are hit on the same day.

Prizes and giveaways this year are courtesy of Akademiks, Civilian Skateboards, and Triple 8.

Josh Evin, Canadian ripper, pro for Premium, and friend of many at TransWorld, was reported missing yesterday after a motorcycle accident threw him and his passenger into the Kootenay Canal. The passenger made it to shore but Josh’s body is yet to be recovered.

“TMZ has learned “Jackass” star Bam Margera has been hospitalized after being attacked by a bat-wielding woman.
Cops tell us … it happened at 2 AM this morning, outside Bam’s bar in West Chester, PA. There was some sort of fight, that ended when the woman allegedly hit Bam in the back of the head with a baseball bat.
The woman was arrested and charged with assault. Bam was taken to the Chester County Hospital. His condition is unknown.”

The old legendary wave quarterpipes at the LA Superior Court have been a known quick bust since Lance Mountain and company hit them up in Future Primitive. With the recent addition of the Lafayette Skate Plaza (Can we stop calling it Carl’s Jr park yet?) just down the block, most of LA’s self respecting skaters have now learned as much on their own. In that vein, Clint, Pastras, T Karr, and Gareth Stehr can be caught here doing exactly what anybody that has ever been there has probably done—get a quick one or two hits in before the inevitable toss by the man. In this instance however, the man turned out to be rather clip worthy himself. See you next week.

Ok SKATE will be hosting a game of SKATE at their retail store in Rancho Cucamonga on June 12. It’s first come first serve, so if you’re in the area go get your flatground on.

Today went off! The 12 finalists set the course on fire, and just as the last heat finished, it started pouring rain. Chris Cole battled it out against Paul Rodriguez, Bastien Salabanzi, and Torey Pudwill in the exciting finale that even had the crowd chanting, “Bastien, Bastien!” But in the end Cole won and repeated his Maloof Money Cup title. He might be more concerned with a wooden bike, a light-up toy that looks like an atomic Gobstopper or his dog, but at two, Busenitz’s son, Rune, has more access to the professional skateboard community than most of us, riding around with one of the fastest skaters in the world and going on tour with pros from a myriad of companies. So, I thought I’d ask him a few questions about S&C and the insider perspective.

KIDS’ WISHES WERE GRANTED AND THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS WERE RAISED FOR MAKE-A-WISH AT FIRST-EVER SKATE FOR A CAUSE

Best Trick Winners Malto, Sheckler and Lutzka Donated Prize Money to the Cause

Some of the best skateboarders in the world joined Ryan Sheckler at the etnies Skatepark of Lake Forest for the Sheckler Foundation’s first Skate for a Cause event that raised thousands of dollars for the Make-a-Wish Foundation. It was one of those days when the skate community rallied to help others and had a lot of fun granting wishes, with three best trick contests, a demo and a skateboard carnival village with games and activities.
Two lucky kids’ wishes were granted this morning at etnies private skateboard training facility too – Jonathon’s wish was to skateboard with Ryan Sheckler, and Marissa wished to skate with Rob Dyrdek.
The total prize purse for the best trick contests was $10,000, and all the winners donated their prize money to Make-A-Wish! Sean Malto won $4,000 for the best trick on the 11-stair, Greg Lutzka got a $3,000 check for best trick on the center pieces and Ryan Sheckler earned $3,000 for the best trick on tranny.

The Zumiez Couch Tour made its second stop outside of Portland in Happy Valley, Oregon. The second stop brought another epic demo courtesy of the Zero team with Jamie Thomas on the mic letting the crowd call out tricks for the skaters. Another Best Foot Forward contest also went down with Steven Farmer taking first and winning a free ticket to the finals in Minneapolis.

(Burr Ridge, Ill.) -- Competitions at Rye Airfield in Rye, N.H. and Skater's Edge in Taunton, Mass. produced three skaters and a BMX finalist from the first weekend of the Gatorade Free Flow Tour. Rye Airfield winners Josh Lane (BMX park), Zac Rose (skate vert), and Giorgio Villone (skate park), as well as Skater's Edge winner Mat Militano (skate park) have all advanced to the Gatorade Free Flow Tour Finals taking place September 16-19.
Seventeen-year-old Lane of Portsmouth, N.H. earned the BMX park victory at Rye Airfield, taking his amplitude and style across the entire park. He impressed the crowd and judges when he launched from the jump landing to a superman, whipping the big box -- backwards -- during the final jam session. Matt Ray was second with Brett Silva finishing in third place.
"This contest was amazing," Lane said. "I'm gonna train non-stop so I can win the finals."
In the skate vert contest, 14-year-old Rose used an almost-flawless run that included alley-oops, two McTwists and some hot coping action to claim the victory.
"I've been driving two hours every night to come to Rye to prepare for this event," said Rose of Raymond, ME. "I'm really psyched for the finals in Salt Lake!"
In the skate park competition, Villone of West Islip, N.Y. topped the jaw-dropping skate contest with a loaded run that included a full cab flip up the euro, switch 180 smith the down rail and a feeble the down rail.
"I'm so happy I won, I wasn't expecting to at all," said 20-year-old Villone. "Finals are going to be so sick, last year the course was awesome!"
Villone was a skate park finalist in the 2009 Gatorade Free Flow Tour, earning a wildcard entry with his video submission.
"As always, the Gatorade Free Flow Tour killed it with killer prizes, the best trophies ever, and a nail biting competition that went down to the wire," said Rye Airfield manager Beau Lambert. "We're so psyched to be a part of it for our fifth time. See ya at the finals in SLC."
On Sunday, Militano won the skate park competition at Skater's Edge Skatepark in Taunton, Mass.
Seventeen-year-old Militano of Douglasville, Pa. earned the victory after executing a big heel flip and switch big spin during the final jam session. Mikey Leven of Philadelphia, Pa. was second and Kevin Liedtke, also from Douglasville, Pa., finished in third place.
"The contest was so fun, now I need to sleep!" Militano said. "Yesterday and today killed me, but I'm so psyched for the finals."
With the win, Militano, Lane, Rose and Villone all earn an automatic bid into the Gatorade Free Flow Tour Finals that will take place at the Dew Tour's Toyota Challenge, September 16-19, 2010 in Salt Lake City, Utah at EnergySolutions Arena.

After hanging in board sponsor limbo for nearly five months after his departure from Almost skateboards, Greg Lutzka has found a new home with Darkstar. Interestingly, Lutzka, the three-time Tampa Pro winner and X Games Mexico gold medalist, came full circle when he landed on Darkstar; both Darkstar and Almost are a part of Dwindle Distribution. Lutzka joins Ryan Decenzo, Paul Machnau, Pierre Luc-Gagnon, Adam Dyet and founder Chet Thomas on the team.
